RecreationPlus today announced its plans to award five individual, needs-based, student educational scholarships. The Santa Clara, CA based educational enrichment provider is actively responding to the needs of families throughout Silicon Valley by offering the one time scholarships with an approximate total value of $5,500.

The RecreationPlus motto is: Building the Future and Greg LeCount, founder and director of Recreation Plus feels this scholarship directly impacts the organizations ability to fulfill its' promise. "As a small business owner I recognize our current economy has created real distress for many families. While parents are in an unfortunate position, its the kids who suffer from a cut back in after-school activities", said LeCount.

The scholarship theme is: *IM* The Change in My Community. The award winning scholars must express in a written SLAM poem, persuasive essay or other form of creative writing, how their education and learning WILL make a difference in their community. Winners will be selected for outstanding creative expression, purpose of thought and specific - actionable change that enables the greatest good for the greatest number of people.

*IM* The Change in My Community Scholarship is open to 6th - 12th graders in Santa Clara County. Specific rules and regulations will be posted here.

Winners will be awarded personalized Interactive Metronome (IM) training instruction. IM is a cutting-edge neurological assessment and treatment tool used globally by OT’s, PT’s, Athletic Trainers, Educators, Licensed Rehab and Mental Health Professionals, Psychiatrists, Neurologists and Psychologists. IM has been shown to improve cognitive, communicative, behavioral and motor skill challenges for those with Auditory and Sensory Processing Disorders, Dyslexia, Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADD/ADHD and other Learning Disorders.
